The Benefits of Breathwork with Jamie Clements

Introducing Jamie…

“I’m a breathwork coach and facilitator based in London, and founder of The Breath Space.

Having discovered breathwork four years ago, the practice had a profound impact on me, significantly improving my physical and mental wellbeing, and helping me move through severe anxiety and panic attacks. I truly believe that breathwork is the most universal and powerful tool that we all have access to change our bodies and minds, and live healthier, happier lives.

My goal is to provide you with the tools to work it into your daily life, as well as creating an environment to go deeper and understand new elements of yourself.”

So how can breathwork benefit your life? Continue reading to find out more!

We breathe over 20,000 times every single day, so it's important to make sure that we are doing so in a way that supports our overall wellbeing. The breath is arguably the most simple, accessible and powerful tool we have at our disposal to manage our physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.

“Breathwork has seen a big rise in popularity in recent times as a powerful tool for enhancing physical, mental, and emotional well-being. But what exactly is breathwork, and how can it benefit you?

Simply put, breathwork is an umbrella term to describe any way of using your breath to improve your physical and mental health. However, this can mean a lot of different things to different people. To help clarify things, I've developed the Full Spectrum Breathwork methodology to break things down further.

  1. Functional Breathing - bringing greater awareness to your natural breath and looking to optimise your natural breathing pattern. Looking at how you breathe day to day, during sleep, rest, exercise and beyond.

  2. Nervous System Regulation - tapping into the breath consciously as a powerful way to influence the state of your nervous system. How can you use the breath proactively as a tool to shift your state?

  3. Healing Modalities of Breathwork - deeper, transformative styles of breathwork that allow us to work with altered states of consciousness, emotional processing and more to promote deep healing.

So, what are some of the key benefits of breathwork?

  • Reduced stress and anxiety: By slowing down and controlling your breath, you activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which helps calm your body and reduce stress and anxiety.

  • Improved mental clarity: Breathwork can help increase oxygen flow to the brain, which can enhance mental clarity, focus, and productivity.

  • Increased energy levels: By improving oxygen flow and reducing stress, breathwork can help boost your energy levels and improve overall physical performance.

  • Better sleep: Breathwork can help regulate your body's natural rhythms and promote relaxation, leading to better quality sleep.

  • Enhanced emotional well-being: By promoting relaxation and reducing stress, breathwork can help improve mood and emotional well-being, leading to a greater sense of happiness and fulfilment.
